Upwood Road

The refurbishment of an archetypal 60’s, 3 storey dwelling sought to take advantage of the freedom that its original structural concrete frame offered, providing a more suitable and flexible spatial arrangement for its inhabitants.

Free from any necessary internal structural elements, with the only fixed element of the building being the staircase that serves all 3 floors, and benefitting from a dual aspect, a series of open plans were introduced to retain the flexibility to adapt to potential future changes in the owners circumstances and preferences.

With a limited budget, a robust and consistent palette of materials and details were introduced throughout, meaning that the function of each room can be easily adapted or combined in the future.

Constructed between August 2017 and February 2018.
