Hauser & Wirth ‘shed project’

An open competition for young architects, the proposal, a simple timber framed construction adopted an exposed internal structural grid allowing for the space to be subdivided internally whilst providing a flexible environment for changing types of artistic practice. A large glazed screen sought to create a semi enclosed external space into which the shed could extend, with the shed sat on a slab formed of reconstituted red brick, a material used in nearby buildings to form infill’s and openings in walls and a marker of their changing use over time.
