Outdoor Festival 2016

Competition entry for an annual outdoor arts festival held in Rome. The proposal responded to a requirement for a temporary space in which various festival related conferences, performances and events could take place.

With a limited budget and condensed construction programme, the proposal made use of the organisers existing furniture instead focussing on robust and readily available additions that would help frame the activities within the building, whilst not distracting from its architectural character. The space was proposed as being white washed, to a height at which art would be hung from, the addition of a series of hung white tarpaulins that provided flexible enclosures and projection backdrops, and the use of hired equipment in the form of site scaffold and floodlights to provide the necessary performative improvements to the space.
