Wilmer Place

The project proposed the introduction of an additional habitable storey, to an existing 3 storey dwelling, that overlooks a neighbouring park, in a North London conservation area.

With a small budget, and the provision of space a priority, the proposal replaced an existing roof with a prefabricated timber volume, introduced directly on top of the building and occupying the maximum footprint available.

With its timber surface left exposed internally, an office space, shower room and bedroom, were intended to share views over the park.

Externally, the volume is wrapped with bitumous felt and detailed with galvanised steel profiles, arranged so as to acknowledge the arrangement of existing facade beneath, whilst materially being entirely distinctly from the original house.
